Move to the cloud, stay in Australia.

Private Cloud

There is much hype about cloud computing, and its place in the future of IT. But what happens to your data once you place it in the “cloud”? Where does it go? Who has access to it? Will you always be able to recover it? Is it backed up? Do you have to pay just to access it?

The answer to these questions can often be a barrier to organisations using cloud services for enterprise solutions. The fundamental notion of control must be questioned against the potential cost saving. Some cloud service providers tout extremely low cost storage, but fail to tell you that you will pay for every byte of data transferred in and out of the cloud, across the Internet, and that is before factoring in the extra utilisation (and possibly cost) through your Internet link. Organisations must also consider the risk in their or their customer’s data being stored outside of their home country and indeed whether this breaches any Privacy or other regulations they must adhere to.

To overcome these failings of cloud services many large organisations are today looking at their own private cloud. In a large and diverse enterprise the benefits of this model are very compelling. Departments can grow and shrink as the business requires without large capital expenditure, services can be standardised and easily deployed and economies of scale are realised. Another major benefit that does not receive much press is the simplification of the Business Continuity Planning.

Infoplex, as a utility services provider are able to provide all the pieces that make up a private cloud – a managed or hosted network and both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Infoplex designed its Integrated Services Network (ISN) from the ground up to provide cloud computing services directly. Infoplex is one of the only cloud providers that can provide a truly private cloud, where all of your data and virtual infrastructure is retained in Australia, managed and monitored by an Australian owned organisation, and governed by Australian laws and regulations.

Furthermore there is no minimum size of organisation that can take advantage of a private cloud. An Infoplex Private Cloud allows you to connect your existing infrastructure to the Infoplex ISN to utilise these on-demand resources, or alternatively allows Infoplex to create your own Private Cloud network, using our Virtual Data Centre concept. In this model you have all the benefits of a true on-demand scalable cloud service. You have the added protection of knowing that all of your data will reside in Australia and you are dealing with an Australian business subject to local laws and scrutiny. We keep all of the data traffic within the private cloud, so there are no hidden charges from using the Internet to access your data, and network performance is predictable.
